Practical, self-paced Field Researcher Training (approximately 4–6 hours). The first module, Fieldwork Ready (approximately 60 minutes), is mandatory before any field assignment. After passing it, completing a project-specific briefing and receiving ARFS approval, researchers may begin supervised assignments while completing the remaining modules.
Who This Course Is For
Prospective ARFS field researchers and contractors preparing for supervised interviews, surveys, observations and field data collection. Course completion does not guarantee assignments.

Course Outline
- Module 1 — Fieldwork Ready (approximately 60 minutes; mandatory before assignments): field researcher role, ethics, confidentiality, consent, participant interaction, neutral questioning, accurate recording, safety and problem reporting. Includes a knowledge check and practical scenarios; passing is required.
- Module 2 — Interviewing and Survey Administration: approaching participants, following scripts, probing appropriately and handling survey responses.
- Module 3 — Field Data Collection and Observation: structured observation, note-taking, privacy and secure records.
- Module 4 — Quality Control, Challenges and Reporting: recognizing bias and errors, escalating problems, checking records and submitting reports.
- Final practical assessment — Simulated field interaction, accurate data record and field report, with feedback and opportunities to improve.
Our learning approach: ARFS Training Academy emphasizes practical learning, demonstrated competence and continuous improvement. Participants learn at their own pace, receive feedback and can revisit lessons or improve submitted work to meet the required standards. Passing Fieldwork Ready establishes a training milestone, not a full-course certificate or automatic permission to work. Supervised assignments also require a project-specific briefing and ARFS approval. An ARFS Certificate in Field Research Practice is awarded after all modules and assessments meet the required standard; it is not an independent professional certification.
