Charles Batstone — Owner & Director
Charles Batstone brings a practical, field-informed approach to research, built on decades of experience working directly with businesses, industry, communities, and individuals in Canada and internationally. His background spans field research and data collection, labour-market research, employer engagement, business consulting, vocational education, and workforce development. Having worked in client-facing field roles himself, Charles understands that successful research depends not only on good methodology, but on how effectively it is carried out on the ground. Internationally, his work in vocational education and training involved industry research, consultation, curriculum development, and training instructors, turning real-world industry needs into practical programs and resources. In Nova Scotia, Charles has worked extensively with employers and community partners to understand workforce needs, gather and interpret labour-market information, and support the development of employment and training initiatives. His earlier experience as a business owner and consultant also gives him an appreciation for the realities facing the organizations ARFS serves. As Owner and Director of Atlantic Research and Field Services, Charles brings these experiences together with a straightforward philosophy: Understand the objective, ask the right questions, do the work properly, and deliver findings clients can use.
